Calif. Utilities Board Probes PG&E Over San Bruno Blast

Law360, New York (January 12, 2012, 8:06 PM EST) -- The California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday said it will formally look into allegations that Pacific Gas & Electric Co. violated state and federal law in the years leading up to a deadly September 2010 explosion of a natural gas pipeline in San Bruno, Calif.

In opening the enforcement proceedings, the commission said it will look at whether PG&E violated state utilities law, state or federal pipeline regulations, or industry standards in installing and maintaining the pipe and responding to the explosion. If it finds violations,...
