Liberty Mutual Units Off The Hook In 4 Four Loko Suits

Law360, New York (January 18, 2012, 2:18 PM EST) -- Two Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. units don't have to defend the maker of Four Loko against four product liability suits, including one claiming a consumer accidentally shot himself while wired on the caffeinated alcoholic beverage, an Illinois federal judge ruled Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly ruled that a liquor liability exclusion in policies at issue barred four of five suits for which Four Loko maker Phusion Projects LLC was seeking insurance coverage, partially granting a bid by Netherlands Insurance Co. and Indiana Insurance Co....
