Stanford Ponzi Case Rolls Forward In Face Of Objections

Law360, New York (January 18, 2012, 7:13 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday said the much-contested trial of financier R. Allen Stanford, who pled not guilty to orchestrating a $7 billion Ponzi scheme, will go forward as scheduled Jan. 23 despite a flurry of objections from the defense team.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner confirmed the trial date, almost three years after Stanford's arrest, in a final pretrial conference Wednesday, though Stanford's lawyers have continued to raise concerns about the trial's timing. Stanford entered a plea Wednesday of not guilty on all counts....
