DC Circ. Grounds Antitrust Action Against United

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 1:16 PM EST) -- The D.C. Circuit on Tuesday ordered the dismissal of a putative consumer class action accusing United Air Lines Inc. of using its monopoly power to enforce anti-competitive ticket purchasing rules on nonstop flights between Washington and San Francisco.

The appeals court issued an order remanding the case to the Washington federal court, which had granted summary judgment to the airline and its parent company UAL Corp., with directions that the complaint be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
