Microsoft, Lucent End Fight Over $41M Patent Verdict

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 2:05 PM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. and Lucent Technologies Inc. have ended their fight over a $41 million damages verdict against Microsoft in a suit over its alleged infringement of software interface patents in programs like Microsoft Outlook, an attorney for Lucent said Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Marilyn L. Huff signed off on a joint motion to dismiss with prejudice all pending claims and counterclaims in the suit relating to Lucent’s U.S. Patent Number 4,763,356. Both Lucent and Microsoft will bear their own costs and attorneys’ fees, according to the order filed in California federal court.
