Options Backdating Investigation May Be Delayed

Law360, New York (July 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Upheaval in the the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California has reportedly slowed investigations into allegations of stock options backdating.

The Financial Times, quoting unidentified sources familiar with the probes, said Friday that the backdating investigations are struggling with staffing issues.

The U.S. Attorney's office is currently prosecuting the country's first criminal backdating trial against Gregory Reyes, former CEO of Brocade Communications Systems Inc. The office is also investigating dozens of other companies for possible crimes in connection with the stock options...
