8 Insurers Settle Over Misleading Health Provider Info

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 7:17 PM EST) -- Eight major health insurance companies have agreed to financially compensate consumers who were sent astray by outdated information on their online provider directories, as part of settlements with the New York attorney general made public Thursday.

The settlements require insurers to give restitution to customers who paid more than they should have because they went to providers wrongly listed as in network, according to the attorney general's office.
