Southwest Says Hilton Misused Customer Info, IP

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 6:15 PM EST) -- Southwest Airlines Co. sued Hilton Worldwide Inc.’s customer loyalty unit Thursday, alleging the hotel giant broke a marketing agreement by using Southwest’s trademarks and confidential customer information in a partnership with American Airlines Inc., its rival.

In a complaint filed in Virginia federal court, Southwest alleged that Hilton HHonors Worldwide LLC emailed Southwest customers days after its marketing agreement with the airline expired, offering them deals on American Airlines flights.
