NYC Asks 2nd Circ. To Yank Judge From FDNY Hiring Case

Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 7:54 PM EST) -- The city of New York on Tuesday blasted the federal judge overseeing a dispute over the New York City Fire Department's hiring practices, arguing that the Second Circuit should toss a lower court’s ruling and reassign the case to a different judge.

In a harshly worded brief, the city of New York asked the appeals court to overturn an injunction granted by U.S. District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis that assigned a monitor to oversee reform of the FDNY's hiring practices.
