2nd NinjaVideo Co-Founder Gets 14 Mos. In Piracy Case

Law360, San Diego (January 20, 2012, 6:32 PM EST) -- A Virginia federal court on Friday sentenced Matthew David Howard Smith to 14 months in prison for his role in co-founding NinjaVideo.net, a site that allowed millions of users to illegally download premium copies of copyrighted movies and TV shows, according to federal authorities.

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga also ordered Smith to serve two years of supervised release after his prison term, to pay $172,387 and to forfeit five financial accounts as well as computer equipment used in the crimes, the U.S. Department of Justice...
