Commerce To Probe LG, Samsung Over Washer Dumping Claims

Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 8:01 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has agreed to look into Whirlpool Corp.'s claims that washing machines made by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. in Mexico and South Korea are being dumped in the U.S., the agency said Friday.

The department's International Trade Administration decided Thursday to officially open anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations into large residential washers imported from South Korea. The probe on the Mexican imports will only examine whether the products are being sold at less than fair value.
