Kirkland & Ellis, Magnetek Call Quits On Malpractice Suit

Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 10:46 PM EST) -- Kirkland & Ellis LLP and former client Magnetek Inc. agreed on Friday to dismiss an Illinois federal suit alleging the law firm had failed to research prior art that could have saved Magnetek from paying an almost $19 million arbitration award to an inventor who claimed the company infringed his patents.

Kirkland & Ellis filed an agreed motion to dismiss the suit with prejudice, with each side bearing its own attorneys' fees and costs. Attorneys for the parties were not immediately available to comment Friday on...
