Canada Widens Probe Of $2.1B United Rentals Deal

Law360, New York (January 23, 2012, 6:04 PM EST) -- Regulatory approval of United Rentals Inc.'s planned $2.1 billion acquisition of rival equipment rental company RSC Holdings Inc. will be delayed as Canadian antitrust regulators seek more information on the deal, United Rentals said Monday.

The Canadian Competition Bureau’s request for supplementary information on Friday extends by 30 days its review of the deal, which would couple United Rentals — the largest equipment rental company in the world — with RSC and its more than 400 branches across the U.S. and western Canada.
