Starbucks, Keurig In Hot Water Over Instant Tea Patent

Law360, New York (January 25, 2012, 7:02 PM EST) -- A Colorado company on Wednesday hit Starbucks Corp., Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. and Green Mountain unit Keurig Inc. with a lawsuit alleging they violated its patent for a system to produce tea extracts with coffee makers.

Teashot LLC, founded by former Celestial Seasonings Inc. executive Barry Cooper, claims in Colorado federal court that the companies violated its patent for a system that Cooper invented in the late 1990s.
