Founder Of French Silicon Implant Co. Arrested Amid Scandal

Law360, New York (January 26, 2012, 12:05 PM EST) -- The founder of France's Poly Implant Prothese and a former director were reportedly arrested Thursday morning, after concerns over the now-defunct company's use of industrial-grade silicon raised health alarms around the world.

PIP founder Jean-Claude Mas was arrested at his home and taken to Marseille, French newspaper Le Monde reported, noting that ex-PIP CEO and board chair Claude Couty was also arrested as part of a probe the Marseille prosecutor had launched in December.
