Sara Lee Vows Sales Jolt With $223M Senseo Coffee Stake

Law360, New York (January 26, 2012, 1:39 PM EST) -- Illinois-based Sara Lee Corp. has reached a deal to pay €170 million ($223 million) for Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV's 50 percent stake in a suite of consumer coffee systems that sell under the Senseo trademark, the companies said Thursday.

The deal means Sara Lee will have full control over the Senseo brand, which has sold 33 million single-serve coffee appliances worldwide since 2001. Amsterdam-based Philips will continue to build and distribute the Senseo machines under a pact that lasts until 2020, the companies added.
