In Walter Isaacson’s recent bestselling biography of Apple Inc. CEO and founder Steve Jobs, Jobs was said to have considered Google Inc.'s Android operating system a direct rip-off of Apple’s iPhone. Jobs was very upset with Google’s purported copying of Apple’s iconic product and was prepared to use Apple’s significant patent portfolio to completely shut down Android. Jobs described this as going “thermonuclear” against Google.
