Ex-Willbros Exec Indicted In Nigerian Bribe Scandal

Law360, New York (July 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former executive of pipeline construction company Willbros Group Inc. has been indicted on charges of conspiring to make corrupt payments to Nigerian officials in a bid to obtain a state-owned oil company, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

The four-count indictment unsealed on Monday charges 37-year-old Jason Edward Steph with conspiring to make over $6 million in bribe payments to Nigerian officials in order to obtain and retain gas pipeline construction business from a joint venture majority-owned and controlled by the Nigerian state oil...
