Boston Mogul Avoids Prison For Campaign Money Crimes

Law360, New York (January 31, 2012, 5:17 PM EST) -- A judge hit Boston real estate mogul Arthur Winn with a $100,000 fine Tuesday but declined to imprison him or even give him probation for illegal political contributions in what prosecutors said was a plot to win public money for development projects.

Magistrate Judge Judith G. Dein handed out the punishment after Winn, founder of the real estate development firm WinnCompanies, pled guilty Nov. 8 to making $4,500 in illegal contributions.
