A&P Exec Discriminated Against White Worker: Jury

Law360, New York (July 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A jury has found that a black senior executive at the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. fired a white male manager based on his race and threatened to “get rid of all the white boys” in a move to “diversify” the staff.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on Monday held that A&P, one of the first supermarket chains in the U.S., had discriminated against John Sullivan, a white maintenance engineer, because of his race, according to the U.S....
