Ex-Amaranth Trader Seeks To Head Off FERC Action

Law360, New York (July 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Brian Hunter, the energy trader who allegedly dragged hedge fund Amaranth Advisors LLC into financial collapse with bad trades, has sued the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in an effort to ward off regulatory action.

Hunter filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday. He has alleged that FERC lacks statutory authority to bring an enforcement action against him, according to the Journal.
