DOE Sued Over 15-Year-Old Uranium Site Cleanup Bill

Law360, New York (January 31, 2012, 4:35 PM EST) -- A construction company launched a $23.3 million suit Monday claiming the U.S. Department of Energy has refused for 15 years to pay it for work related to the cleanup of contamination at a Colorado uranium mill's processing site.

Ground Improvement Techniques Inc. alleges the DOE breached a contract for a uranium mill tailings remedial action project in Slick Rock, Colo. The agency scrapped the agreement in 1995 without giving GIT the payments it was due, and has since refused to pay a $9.8 million court judgment...
