No Quick Ruling In CFTC’s Price Suit Against Gas Trader

Law360, New York (February 1, 2012, 1:21 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge declined Monday to rule on allegations by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission that Amaranth Advisors LLC’s former chief natural gas trader intentionally manipulated futures prices in 2006.

U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones denied motions for summary judgment by both the CFTC and Brian Hunter, who allegedly tried to manipulate the price of natural gas futures contracts traded on the NYMEX on two separate days in 2006.
