France Opens Probe Into Capsized Costa Concordia

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 12:26 PM EST) -- French prosecutors on Thursday reportedly opened an investigation into the grounding of the Costa Concordia cruise ship off the Italian coast last month that left at least 17 people dead.

The prosecutor's office in Paris asked French police to investigate claims filed in France related to the disaster, the Associated Press reported. This comes after the country's Ministry of Justice asked prosecutors to handle complaints filed by French passengers, no matter where they were filed.
