McDonald's Drops 'Pink Slime' Additive In Burgers

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 8:06 PM EST) -- McDonald's Corp. has stopped using ammonia-treated beef trimmings — called “pink slime” by British chef and media personality Jamie Oliver — in its hamburgers, the company announced earlier this week.

The hamburger chain made the decision to stop using ammonia-treated beef in early 2011, according to a statement by Todd Bacon, McDonald's senior director of quality systems and supply chain management. The beef trimmings have been out of the supply chain since August, Bacon said.
