Bill Aims To Boost Contract Work For Small Businesses

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 8:39 PM EST) -- Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., on Thursday proposed a bill aimed at reforming federal contracting policies for small businesses by preventing large businesses from discreetly taking work contracted to small contractors and increasing government transparency behind contract awards.

The 2012 Subcontracting Transparency And Reliability Act, billed the STAR Act, was introduced Thursday by Mulvaney, chairman of the House small business subcommittee on contracting and workforce, according to a statement on the panel's website.
