Children's Place Copied Skechers Shoe Design: Suit

Law360, New York (February 6, 2012, 2:58 PM EST) -- Accusing The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. of ripping off a popular girls' sneaker design, Skechers USA Inc. sued its retail competitor Thursday in California federal court, alleging patent infringement, trade dress infringement and unfair competition.

The Skechers brand of Twinkle Toes shoes features vulcanized canvass material, a toe cap with rhinestones or other shiny objects, and colorful art patterns on the top and sides of the sneaker, according to the suit.
