Contract Workers Protected As Whistleblowers In N.J.

Law360, New York (July 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court affirmed an appeals court ruling Wednesday that gave a chiropractor who had independently contracted with Prudential Insurance Co. whistleblower protection as an employee.

The court affirmed an appeals court's opinion, which reversed a state trial court's dismissal of George D'Annunzio's wrongful termination suit against the insurance company.

In so doing, the Supreme Court commented not on the content of D'Annunzio's case but on his right to file it under the state's Conscientious Employee Protection Act.
