Paralyzed Woman Settles Cybex Injury Suit For $26M

Law360, New York (February 6, 2012, 3:37 PM EST) -- A woman paralyzed by a Cybex International Inc. exercise machine has agreed to a $26 million settlement with the company and the physical therapy clinic where she worked, about three-fifths the amount of a court award currently on appeal, Cybex said Monday.

Cybex will pay plaintiff Natalie Barnhard $18.5 million under the settlement, and the company's insurer will cover an additional $2 million, Cybex President and Chief Operating Officer Arthur W. Hicks Jr. told Law360. The clinic, Amherst Orthopedic Physical Therapy PC in Buffalo, N.Y. —...
