Path Apologizes For Uploading Users' Contact Info

Law360, New York (February 8, 2012, 5:05 PM EST) -- The social network Path rushed Wednesday to counteract a blogger's discovery that it had transmitted users' address books to its servers without their permission, saying it had deleted the information.

Singapore-based developer Arun Thampi posted on his blog Tuesday that a Path iPhone app appeared to have uploaded his contacts' names, addresses and phone numbers. He did not remember permitting the site to do this, so he created another Path account, and without his consent the site again uploaded his address book, according to the post....
