EU Watchdog To Inspect Airbus A380 Fleet Worldwide

Law360, New York (February 8, 2012, 1:57 PM EST) -- European aviation regulators on Wednesday expanded their probe of an Airbus SAS jumbo jet model to include the entire global fleet of A380s after tiny cracks in a wing component were discovered in several of the airplanes.

The European Aviation Safety Agency identified the cracks in so-called rib feet, a part of the wing that attaches the support structure to the outer covering, when it performed an unscheduled inspection, the agency said in an airworthiness directive.
