Whistleblower Settles Blackstone FCA Kickback Claims

Law360, New York (February 10, 2012, 2:23 PM EST) -- A former Blackstone Medical Inc. employee on Thursday agreed to resolve her False Claims Act suit in Massachusetts federal court accusing the company of paying kickbacks to surgeons, following the U.S. Supreme Court's December decision not to hear the case.

U.S. District Judge William G. Young dismissed without costs and without prejudice whistleblower Susan Hutcheson's complaint claiming Blackstone paid kickbacks to physicians to increase the use of its medical devices in spinal surgeries.
