Medtronic Pushes For Royalties In NuVasive Patent Row

Law360, Washington (February 13, 2012, 6:03 PM EST) -- Medtronic Inc. on Friday asked a California federal judge to force rival NuVasive Inc. to pay royalties and a $19.9 million interest payment after a jury ruled last year that the medical device maker infringed three Medtronic surgical patents.

The request comes five months after the court granted Medtronic and its subsidiary Warsaw Orthopedic Inc. $101.2 million for NuVasive's unauthorized use of three Warsaw spinal surgery patents.
