Weatherford Escapes Deepwater Horizon Spill Claims

Law360, New York (February 13, 2012, 8:11 PM EST) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Friday dismissed all claims against Weatherford International Ltd. in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill multidistrict litigation, saying there was no evidence the Houston-based oil-drilling support firm contributed to the disaster.

Some plaintiffs in the litigation had initially alleged that a piece of Weatherford equipment used to form a seal around BP PLC's ill-fated Macondo oil well was defective, contributing to the April 20, 2010, oil rig explosion and spill.
