Ryla Call Center Workers Win Class Status In Wage Action

Law360, New York (February 14, 2012, 6:55 PM EST) -- A Virginia federal judge on Monday conditionally certified a class action brought by customer service representatives who accused Ryla Teleservices Inc. of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by forcing the call center employees to work extra hours without pay.

The order follows a magistrate judge's January recommendation for class certification in the suit, which is one of several employee class actions brought against Ryla. The actions claim the call center outsourcing company requires workers to arrive before their shifts start and prepare to take calls,...
