31 Groups Call On US To Settle Guatemala STD Case

Law360, New York (February 14, 2012, 2:03 PM EST) -- More than 30 unions, human rights organizations and other groups urged the Obama administration on Tuesday to settle a proposed class action brought by the victims of a 1940s U.S. health program that infected unsuspecting Guatemalans with sexually transmitted diseases.

A coalition of human rights organizations, unions, veterans and religious groups sent a letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, criticizing the U.S. for attempting to nix the suit by asserting immunity.
