Offshore Rig Lessee On Hook For Platform Removal: 5th Circ.

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 8:43 PM EST) -- The Fifth Circuit on Tuesday found that a subcontractor that had helped disassemble an out-of-service oil well off the coast of Louisiana is owed money by the rig’s lessee, which had said the subcontractor’s work did not qualify for reimbursement under state and federal laws.

The three-judge panel affirmed and adopted as its own a lower court’s ruling granting summary judgment to plaintiff T. Baker Smith Inc.
