NY Seeks TIFIA Funds For $5.2B Tappan Zee Bridge Project

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 3:46 PM EST) -- New York state transportation officials are seeking a $2 billion loan to help build a replacement for the aging Tappan Zee Bridge, according to a letter released Wednesday, which provides the first glimpse into funding plans for the $5.2 billion project.

The New York State Thruway Authority, which oversees the 56-year-old bridge, is seeking funding under the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, a federal program for big infrastructure projects that have trouble securing private credit.
