China-Owned Solar Cos. Distort Trade, US Panel Hears

Law360, Washington (February 15, 2012, 8:45 PM EST) -- Chinese state-owned enterprises distort trade and hurt U.S. businesses like the solar panel industry and must be on a tight leash when operating in the U.S., an attorney for domestic solar manufacturers told a congressional panel Wednesday.

China's renewable energy sector is the perfect example of the nature and extent of Chinese subsidies and the resulting market distortions, Wiley Rein LLP partner Timothy C. Brightbill said at a hearing before the U.S.-China Economic & Security Review Commission on the competitive challenges posed by Chinese state-owned enterprises....
