Law360 (July 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of about 2,300 people who claim that dioxin released from a chemical plant contaminated their property and endangered their health have filed an objection to Solutia Inc.'s bid for approval of a key settlement underpinning the bankrupt chemical products maker's restructuring plan.
The group, which refers to itself as the "Nitro Tort Victims," filed its objection to Solutia's motion for approval of its settlements with retirees and Monsanto Corp. on Monday, the latest development in a long-running battle over a deal that critics say allows the company Solutia spun off from in 1997 to sidestep its environmental liabilities....
