Judge Bars Mention Of BP Oil Spill Probe During Trial

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 6:54 PM EST) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Thursday barred plaintiffs in the Deepwater Horizon multidistrict litigation from bringing up during cross-examination what they claimed was BP PLC's investigation into systemic causes of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan said the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee should refrain from cross-examination at trial regarding an investigation involving John Baxter, an engineering director for BP.
