Auditor Blasts San Diego Diocese Over Finances

Law360 (July 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An independent auditor has accused a smattering of parishes in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego of trying to conceal an estimated $500,000 in funds from the bankruptcy court where the diocese was forced to seek sanctuary after it was hit with scores of sexual abuse claims.

On Monday, the court-appointed auditor issued a blistering report, which indicated that dubious accounting practices had allowed a handful of individual parishes to run amok.
