Allegheny Wants Lloyd's To Pick Up Tab For Pollution Suits

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 2:19 PM EST) -- Specialty metals producer Allegheny Technologies Inc. sued Lloyd's of London underwriters in California state court last week, seeking indemnification of five lawsuits over property damage and groundwater contamination within a section of a Superfund site undergoing a $75 million cleanup.

Allegheny and its subsidiary TDY Industries LLC argue that its excess liability insurance policies should cover the lawsuits, which were brought in California federal court by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, the city of Monterey Park, Golden State Water...
