Carlyle Eyes Sale Of $497M Stake In Brazil's Qualicorp

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 4:11 PM EST) -- Private equity giant The Carlyle Group LP may be on the verge of selling a large portion of its 1.7 billion real ($995 million) stake in Brazilian health insurance brokerage firm Grupo Qualicorp in order to help increase the company's liquidity, Brazilian newspaper Valor Economico reported Thursday.

Qualicorp released a statement Thursday noting that it was “informed by its controlling shareholders ... about their intention to make a secondary public offering of shares.”
