American Apparel CEO Tells Jury Ex-Lover Welshed On Loan

Law360, Los Angeles (February 28, 2012, 9:48 PM EST) -- American Apparel Inc. founder and CEO Dov Charney was devastated when ex-girlfriend Koi Suwannagate refused to repay half a million dollars in loans, the self-described “loyalist and romantic” told a Los Angeles jury Tuesday in his breach of contract suit against the couture designer.

“She said ‘I spoke to a couple people, and some people are telling me maybe I don’t owe you the money,’” Charney told a panel of jurors in Los Angeles Superior Court. “I had a meltdown.”
