Cardinal Health Painkiller Shipment Suspension Upheld

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 3:36 PM EST) -- Cardinal Health Inc. was banned Thursday from shipping prescription drugs out of a distribution facility after a Washington federal judge upheld the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s suspension of the company’s Florida license because it allegedly filled suspicious orders for painkiller oxycodone.

U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton denied Cardinal Health’s injunction request to block the suspension Wednesday, the latest development in a lengthy battle between the company and drug enforcement authorities over the government’s efforts to clamp down on illegal prescription drug abuse.
