AT&T Zapped With Suit Over Phone Charger Patent

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 3:43 PM EST) -- VoltStar Technologies Inc. lodged a patent infringement suit against AT&T Inc. in Texas federal court Wednesday, accusing the telecommunications giant of copying its design for energy-efficient cellphone chargers.

VoltStar says AT&T's Zero brand of phone chargers stole the company's patented idea for chargers that eliminate so-called vampire load, the wasteful use of power by an inactive electrical device.
