H&R Block Insurer Denies Liability For Advertising Row

Law360, Washington (March 2, 2012, 4:07 PM EST) -- An H&R Block Inc. insurer asked a New York federal court Wednesday to absolve it from reimbursing the tax preparation giant for a settlement it reached with competitor Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., putting to rest false advertising allegations.

National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., insured H&R Block in January 2011, when the company ran an advertising campaign that made allegedly false claims that nearly two-thirds of Jackson Hewitt's tax returns contained errors.
