NH Governor Signs Restrictions On Eminent Domain

Law360, New York (March 5, 2012, 7:29 PM EST) -- New Hampshire's governor on Monday enacted a law prohibiting public utilities from using eminent domain for energy projects unless they pertain to state power needs, possibly threatening the proposed Northern Pass hydroelectric power transmission line.

“The use of eminent domain should be limited to projects designed to benefit the public as a whole,” the office of Gov. John Lynch, D, said in a statement Monday.
