Commission To Appeal Schneider Ruling

Law360, New York (August 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission will appeal a decision by Europe's second highest court that awarded damages to Schneider Electric SA after regulators blocked the company's proposed merger with French utility Legrand SA.

The Commission said on Monday that it would file an appeal with the European Court of Justice in hopes of overturning a July decision by the Court of First Instance that ordered the EC to compensate Schneider for revenues lost due to the blocked merger.
